The speakers and their subjects of speech are described as follows:
Mr. John Thai, PE, (Principal Traffic Engineer, Traffic Management Center in City of Anaheim) - His topic will include the modern technology on providing traffic signal synchronization to move traffic faster and smoother through street corridor through the application of ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) technology, and its application in the City of Anaheim where the traffic movement is always very dynamic because of Disney Land and other entertainment activity Centers.
Ms. Min Zhou, PE, (Vice President, KOA Corporation) - Ms. Zhou will be presenting the hottest transportation subject, so-called “Active Transportation.” Ms. Zhou has completed and is continuing the planning and design of the bikeway network for several cities in Southern California including the City of Long Beach, Port of Long Beach, Irvine, San Diego, etc. She is recognized as one of the pioneers in active transportation planning and design.
Mr. Yung Nien Wang, PE, (Associated Vice President, HNTB) - Mr. Wang is an expert in bridge structural design and has completed many interesting and challenging bridge design in the past, including the Devil’s Slide Tunnels Project, located along the California coast between Pacifica and Montara, west of the San Francisco Bay area, which was opened recently. Mr. Nien Wang has been working for more than 12 year as the project manager. The $439 million project includes a pair of 1,000-foot bridges soaring 125 feet above a grassy horse ranch.
Mr. Jimmy Lin, PE, (President & CEO, KOA Corporation) - Mr. Lin has engaged in numerous Public Transportation planning and design projects in his career, including bus transit, light rail, commuter rail, both here in the US and in Asia. He will be presenting the transit system expansion plan in the Los Angeles area and what positive impact the Measure R will have on the future expansion of Los Angeles County’s public transportation system. If time allows, he will also present some of the topics surrounding China and Taiwan’s High Speed Rail operation.
